Hal Hal With Hal-Hal the fishingman signify a restless sea, and it’s true, because the sea is nearly always restless. Two ergs standing at the edge of a plateau until 3 m high under the surface and they don’t give any protection. They are laying nearly 400 m south-eastern away from the Middle Reef. On the inside (west) the plateau is 16 m deep, while it on the outside at 22 – 24 m fall off to a big broad hill. The hill has a steep slope around 80 m more to the east side, which wall is vertical, and not over hanging and starts at around 30 m. Hal-Hal is also known as Shaab Kweiss (means nice reef) but every reef in the Red Sea is like this, if the captain forget the name of it. Sea-Conditions You need extreme good conditions to reach Hal-Hal. Even when you reached Hal-Hal, in nine of ten cases the current is too strong to dive here. Dive-Plan If you are lucky to make a dive over here then it will be one of the most colorful and alive reefs which you have ever been dived at. The fishes here are never sleeping and they are moving between the fight eat or will be eaten. The dive site is so small, you can dive there 2 – 3 times in one dive. Don’t make a plan, the current will show you the way. Dive to the steep slope and have a look for big fishes but only if you are good with your air and if you have a good sense of direction.
